Briones Regional Park - May 22, 2000

So I found Cal Performance's digital camera (a Kodak DC 200) in the supply room yesterday, and when "training partner" Diane turned our bike-ride into a lovely evening hike through Briones Regional Park, I decided to bring it along. I'd biked past Briones before (during the rainy, foggy, can't-see-a-thing Grizzly Peak Century), but this was the first time I'd ventured within. Our trek (taken from the East Bay Trails "May Marathon" guidebook) took us along a wooded creek bed to a high meadow under a bald ridge. We made our way back down a rather steep gulch and--only because we took a few wrong turns--through through some backyards. Finally getting our bearings, we ended the hike passing the horse stables (not that we could see anything in the dark), an oversized wooden canyon, and some strangely obnoxious cattle.
